An Argentine federal judge has dismissed a criminal case against Argentine President Javier Milei and 10 other individuals regarding the LIBRA token, according to reports from The Block, The Defiant, and CoinDesk Tech Security. The judge concluded that the investigated conduct did not constitute a crime and found no criminally relevant deception in Milei's social media post promoting the token. LIBRA was a memecoin that crashed shortly after its launch in February 2025. [1][2][3]
The dismissal in the 60-page ruling applies to 11 people in total, The Block and CoinDesk Tech Security reported. The cleared individuals include Karina Milei, the president's sister and secretary general of the presidency, and United States businessman Hayden Davis, who acted as an adviser for the token launch. CoinDesk Tech Security, citing Infobae and Reuters, reported that lobbyist Mauricio Novelli and KIP Protocol chief executive officer Julian Peh were also cleared. [1][2][3]
Milei is an Argentine politician and economist who has served as the president of Argentina since 2023. A separate class action lawsuit filed by investors in New York regarding the token was previously dismissed in September, according to The Defiant. [2][7]
