A Ledger Nano X user reported a physical implant inside a hardware wallet purchased in Europe, according to The Defiant. The report follows an investigation into an October 9 fund draining incident targeting device owners. [1]

French firm Ledger stated on October 11 that all confirmed cases of the October 9 theft involved devices purchased through CryptoBilis, an authorized reseller for Southeast Asia, according to UToday Crypto News. UToday Crypto News reported that Ledger described the number of impacted devices as limited, without providing precise figures on how many wallets were compromised. [2]

The company emphasized that its internal systems and direct sales channels were not affected by the breach, according to UToday Crypto News. As FTMQ Crypto reported earlier, Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis halted all hardware wallet sales following the onset of the investigation. [2][7]

Ledger is contacting affected customers and working alongside authorities to determine how the physical thefts occurred, UToday Crypto News reported. Further reports from CryptoPotato, CryptoRank, TOKENPOST, and Incrypted confirmed that hardware implants were discovered during the ongoing investigation into the drained funds. [2][3][4][5][6]
