Layer-1 blockchain network Qubic has restarted its operations and opened a claims portal following a security exploit that compromised 1,404 accounts. Cointelegraph, TradingView, CoinGape, and The Crypto Times all reported that an attacker drained funds from the network by exploiting vulnerable seed phrases. [1][2][3][4]

Cointelegraph, CoinGape, and TradingView reported that the attacker stole $1.4 million in QU tokens during the breach. The Crypto Times placed the total losses slightly lower, estimating the stolen amount at $1.3 million across the 1,404 affected wallets. [1][2][3][4]

According to Cointelegraph, data from the blockchain explorer shows the network resumed processing ticks around 8:00 pm on October 19. The blockchain advanced beyond tick 85,371,949, which is where validators had previously halted the chain on Sunday to contain the breach. [1]

Cointelegraph reported that network validators, known as Computors, approved a recovery plan allowing affected users to verify their addresses and submit claims. Qubic opened the claims platform to impacted wallet holders, set a deadline of May 1, 2027, and advised users with vulnerable seed phrases to transfer their funds immediately. [1]
