Blink Wallet has introduced a one dollar monthly inactivity fee on custodial accounts that have not recorded a login for more than 12 months. Bitcoin Magazine Markets reported that the firm initiated the policy through an updated Terms of Service in early September 2026, sending push notifications to affected account holders before processing the initial charges by mid-October. [1]
Fees collected under the new policy will be refunded if an account holder logs back into the application within 12 months, Bitcoin Magazine Markets reported. The outlet noted that the measure follows a security incident in September 2026, during which an administrative tool breach resulted in the loss of 6.61 bitcoin. [1]
A custodial account is a financial account managed by a responsible party on behalf of a beneficiary. Bitcoin Magazine reported that the new cost structure on dormant balances may encourage users to transfer their holdings into self-custody solutions. [3][5]
