Privacy token Zcash fell by 16 percent on October 8, 2026, dropping harder than Bitcoin during a broader cryptocurrency market selloff. Bitcoin News and Cryptonews.net both reported that the token experienced a steep decline as selling pressure intensified across the digital asset sector. The market drop coincided with wider declines across multiple digital currencies. [1][8]

The price drop occurred alongside a broader market downturn. Blockchain News reported that the cryptocurrency market suffered a 215 billion dollar wipeout, while Coinpedia Fintech News, CryptoRank, and OneSafe all noted that the falling price of Bitcoin led a deepening market selloff. [2][5][6][7]

Amid the overall market turbulence, 100 bitcoin mined in 2010 moved late Wednesday for the first time in over 16 years, CoinDesk reported. The coins originated from two mining rewards created during the Satoshi era, when the asset traded for pennies. At current prices, the transferred tokens carry a value of approximately 8.5 million dollars. CoinDesk noted that the tokens reached a wallet address on July 30, 2010, and sat untouched until a transaction was confirmed at 18:52 UTC. [3]

The market movements come alongside significant institutional developments for privacy tokens. Pluang reported that Grayscale's Zcash ETF has reached 1 billion dollars in assets, marking an expansion of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. [4]
