Bitcoin faces worst October performance since 2014 amid technology stock selloff

Bitcoin dropped toward $77,000 as a broad rout in technology stocks and falling gold prices put the asset on track for its worst October performance in 12 years.

Bitcoin traded near $77,000 as a technology stock selloff dragged down broader risk assets, according to Cointelegraph Bitcoin, Cointelegraph Main, and TechJuice. The digital asset remained under pressure below $80,000 on October 30 after declining 1.1 percent on the day to hit its lowest price level since September 18. [1][2][8][9]

The market downturn coincided with dropping valuations across traditional equities after technology companies issued weak forward revenue guidance, Cointelegraph Bitcoin and Cointelegraph Main reported. Semiconductor manufacturer Intel saw its stock fall nearly 30 percent after warning of weaker fourth quarter sales than anticipated. [1][2]

The decline extended beyond equities, with Cointelegraph Bitcoin and Cointelegraph Main reporting that gold prices simultaneously hit their lowest level in a year. The combined selling pressure leaves bitcoin on track for its worst October performance since 2014, according to Cointelegraph Bitcoin, Cointelegraph Main, and TechJuice. [1][2][8][9]

The current price weakness comes after crypto markets faced structural headwinds over the preceding year. As FTMQ Crypto reported earlier, digital assets experienced a massive leverage crash in October 2025 that led to 19 billion dollars in liquidations and saw bitcoin drop from around 122,000 dollars to 105,000 dollars.
