Bitcoin fell below 81,000 dollars following the opening of Wall Street trading on Friday, October 23, 2026. Cointelegraph, LCX Exchange, and Menafn all reported that the cryptocurrency fluctuated around 81,000 dollars while Brent crude oil reached its highest price since March. [1][2][3]
Data from TradingView showed that Bitcoin dropped to 80,988 dollars before rebounding to approximately 81,600 dollars, Cointelegraph reported. Market analysts noted that Bitcoin must reclaim its 50-day moving average to avoid further drops below the 80,000 dollar threshold. [1]
The dip in cryptocurrency prices coincided with broader declines across stock markets as investors became risk-averse, according to Cointelegraph. US equity indices fell, with the S&P 500 declining by 0.6 percent, the Nasdaq Composite Index dropping by 0.2 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling by 1.4 percent. [1]
The broader market sell-off was driven by expenditure concerns in the artificial intelligence sector and rising oil prices stemming from tensions related to the United States and Iran war, Cointelegraph reported. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury bond yield remained below 5 percent. [1]

- Bitcoin dipped to $80,988 before recovering to around $81,600.
