Bitcoin mining firm MARA Holdings transferred 1,650 Bitcoin to institutional digital asset platforms over approximately 12 hours on November 5. The transfers were worth about $132.8 million according to The Market Periodical, while UToday Crypto News reported the value as $133 million. The transaction recipients included trading provider Galaxy Digital and custody service Copper, according to data from blockchain tracking service Lookonchain cited by The Market Periodical. Blockchain records do not confirm whether MARA Holdings sold the assets. The transfers raised market concerns over potential selling activity by the mining company, UToday Crypto News reported. [1][6]

The asset transfers occurred as MARA Holdings evaluates converting up to 90 percent of its non-hosted mining capacity to artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, according to The Market Periodical. [1][8][10]

Bitcoin relies on a proof of work consensus mechanism where miners run computing hardware to solve cryptographic puzzles and add transaction blocks to the chain, receiving newly minted Bitcoin as block rewards. The network maintains a fixed maximum supply limit of 21 million tokens. [15]
