Starknet considers independent base network to pursue quantum resistance
Starknet developers are evaluating a transition from an Ethereum Layer 2 to an independent base network to achieve quantum resistance by 2027.

Starknet developers are considering leaving the Ethereum network to establish an independent Layer 1 blockchain aimed at achieving quantum resistance by 2027, CryptoSlate reported. TradingView, Startup Fortune, tokenpost.com, and The Defiant also reported on the potential transition, which comes as the project seeks to decouple its cryptographic framework from Ethereum dependencies. [1][4][5][6][7]
The project's native STRK token experienced a sharp price increase following the reports, according to CryptoSlate, Cryptonews.net, tokenpost.com, and The Defiant. CryptoSlate cited a CoinGlass snapshot from Oct. 11 at 20:28 UTC showing STRK trading at $0.1190, representing a 17.7% gain over 24 hours and a 116.7% rise over seven days. The Defiant reported an initial 30% jump in the token's price as speculation mounted over the proposed network shift. [1][3][6][7]
StarkWare Industries, an Israeli software firm, develops zero-knowledge proof technology designed to compress data and resolve blockchain scalability constraints. As FTMQ Crypto reported earlier, Starknet was evaluating a proposal to separate from Ethereum and transform into a standalone base network targeting full quantum resistance by 2027, at a time when STRK traded near $0.073. [8][11]
CryptoSlate reported that Starknet's roadmap continues to retain Ethereum-dependent security protections while its developers assess the independent Layer 1 architecture. The transition would isolate Starknet's custom cryptographic mechanisms from the underlying Ethereum base layer. [1]
