Andrew Cuomo, co-chairman of the OKX-ICE joint venture, addressed corporate pushback against tokenized stock plans during a press call on October 20, 2026. CoinDesk reported that Cuomo called the growing list of rejecting companies a natural response to testing a new market structure. Microsoft, Alphabet, and Goldman Sachs are among the latest firms to object to the tokenized trading of their shares. [1]

According to CoinDesk, Cuomo explained that the model was intentionally designed to allow companies to choose whether to opt in or out. He stated that corporate entities were expected to take a wait-and-see approach as the tokenized trading model develops. [1]

As FTMQ Crypto reported earlier, OKX-ICE is a joint venture formed by cryptocurrency exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange to trade tokenized equity shares under a Securities and Exchange Commission framework. Nine major corporations, including Broadcom, Verizon, and UnitedHealth, had previously lodged formal objections against the tokenization of their shares. [9]

Cuomo is an OKX board member who served as the 56th governor of New York from 2011 until his resignation in 2021. OKX is a cryptocurrency exchange based in San Jose, California. [1][6][7]
