Bitcoin dropped below 75,000 dollars to hit its lowest level since mid-August following the open of United States equity trading on Friday, TradingView reported. The total digital asset market capitalization fell by 0.5 percent on the day. The market decline occurred after stronger than expected US employment data was released. [1]
TradingView reported that digital assets diverged from traditional equity markets. While crypto prices fell, United States stock indexes rebounded as investors bought discounted technology shares. At the time of reporting, the S&P 500 index had risen 0.6 percent and the Nasdaq Composite Index had gained 1.2 percent. [1]
The latest price drop follows previous market volatility reported earlier by FTMQ Crypto, when Bitcoin fell below 77,000 dollars to hit a low of 76,320 dollars. That earlier selloff was accompanied by 1.56 billion dollars in total crypto market liquidations and a 6.3 billion dollar security hack on the Binance exchange. [4]
Bitcoin operates on a proof of work mechanism where network participants compete to validate transactions and earn block rewards. The protocol features a hard cap of 21 million bitcoins, with issuance rewards halving approximately every four years until total supply stops expanding around the year 2140. [3]
