Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, the operator of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, for allegedly running an unlicensed exchange for Thai users from 2022 to 2025. Bitcoin Magazine Markets and CoinDesk both reported that the complaint was lodged with the Economic Crime Suppression Division. The regulator has also notified the Thai government to block access to Bitget's platform and application from Dec. 5. [1][2][4][5]

Bitcoin Magazine Markets reported that the criminal complaint filed by the regulator also names Kritsana Kritsananuwat as an alleged suspect in the case. [1]

The enforcement action puts Bitget's local market plans under scrutiny. CoinDesk and Bitcoin Magazine Markets both reported that the regulatory action creates uncertainty for the exchange's acquisition efforts in Thailand, including a potential deal involving GMO-Z. [1][2]
